FAQs

8s Place is a competitive Call of Duty website where players can participate and host their own 8s matches while tracking how they do and comparing onto others. Communication is another large part of the website, it allows people to get together and actually speak.

SR stands for "Skill Rating" and is a common metric used in many ranked systems. It is a value that determines a player's rating based on various factors, including their win/loss record, their performance in matches, and the skill level of their opponents. At 8s Place, we use SR to rank our players and ensure that they are matched with others who are of a similar skill level.

In addition to SR, we also have a rating system that is exclusive to 8s Place called CR, or "Community Rating." This is a value that your fellow teammates will set, and it is calculated by taking into account who rates you, how they rate you, and how often you are rated well. CR is designed to be a more personalized rating system that takes into account factors beyond just skill, such as communication, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Creating an account on 8s Place is easy and free. Simply click on the "Login with Discord" button located in the top right corner of the page. Note that a Discord account is required to sign up.

To ensure the best possible competitive experience for all users, 8s Place requires full cooperation and communication during gameplay. As such, a platform for communication is necessary, and Discord provides an ideal solution. In addition, access to your Discord account allows us to easily obtain your name, image, and email.

At 8s Place, we also recognize outstanding players by awarding them the MVP, or "Most Valuable Player" award. This is given to the player who everyone thinks was the most valuable to the team. Additionally, we have an Honorable Mention award, which can be given to any player who performs exceptionally well in a match, whether they were the best communicator, the second most valuable player, or a team rookie who clutched up.

We currently have 10 divisions. Starting in Division I you can make your way up to Division X

SR, CR, and Divisions

SR

  • SR is your Skill Rating, which also determines your Division Rank.
  • Your SR increases or decreases based on who you beat.
  • Players are matched/picked based on their SR to ensure fair gameplay.

CR

  • CR is your Community Rating, which is determined by your teammates.
  • Your CR can increase or decrease based on how your teammates rate you.
  • CR is a great way to measure your teamwork and communication skills.

Divisions

Your SR determines your Division. The higher your SR, the higher your Division. Below is a list of the Divisions:

Division SR Range
Division I 0 - 999
Division II 1000 - 1999
Division III 2000 - 2999
Division IV 3000 - 3999
Division V 4000 - 4999
Division VI 5000 - 5999
Division VII 6000 - 6999
Division VIII 7000 - 7999
Division IX 8000 - 8999
Division X 9000+

How SR and CR Are Calculated

  1. Base SR and CR Values

Every player starts with a base SR +/- of 50 points and a base CR gain of 10 points after a match, regardless of the outcome.

  2. Opponent SR Factor

The system examines the opponent's SR and multiplies it by 0.005 to get an "opponent SR factor." If you beat a strong team, your SR increase will be higher.

  3. Division Factor

The system checks your opponents' division compared to yours. The division factor slightly boosts SR if the division difference is small, but for now, it’s set at 1.0.

  4. Winning vs. Losing

If your team wins, SR gain includes the base SR (50) and adjustments for opponent SR and division. If your team loses, SR loss is softened by dividing by 1.6.

  5. CR Gain

Your CR gain (Credits) is fixed at 10 points per match, regardless of whether you win or lose.
